New Year - New Challenge!

Gents, I wish you all a Happy New Year and in this year I also issue forth a challenge!

http://ppx.popsci.com/

We all start on January 12th to allow enough time for preliminary research (or throwing enough dice to get a statistically satisfactory set of data results).

We all start with the same amount, but let us see where we are 1, 3, 6, and 12 months.

Should fun, time consuming, and hopefully educational.

This is my challenge to you all.

signed up and ready to go. i read up on shorting, but still don't understand this description:

"If you short 100 shares of a propostion that's trading at POP$40, you pay POP$4,000 from your cash at the time of the short. If the proposition goes to 0 (meaning it doesnt come true), your position automatically cashes out and you'll get POP$4,000 (your original investment) plus POP$4,000 (your profit which comes from 40 - 0 x 100shares) for a total of POP$8,000 added to your cash balance."

if you borrow $4K worth of stock, and don't have to pay anything back (prop goes to $0), then wouldn't you just end up with $4K profit?
